Elizabeth Mendel

Elizabeth Mendel, a 23-year-old resident of Cape May Court House, NJ, has been involved with the Miss America Opportunity since the age of 16. Elizabeth advocates for Eating Disorder Awareness through her service initiative, “Image is Everywhere,” Elizabeth is passionate about educating others on the serious clinical condition of eating disorders. Having personally experienced the struggles of an eating disorder, Elizabeth understands the challenges of being knowledgeable about her illness yet unable to recover alone. The shame, inadequacy, and loneliness she felt during that time motivated her to use her platform as a title holder in the Miss America Opportunity to spread awareness about eating disorders to hundreds of individuals, young and old. Elizabeth is a small-town girl with a deep-rooted appreciation for family values and community. Growing up in a close-knit town has instilled in her the importance of strong family bonds and the value of supporting one another. Elizabeth’s upbringing has shaped her into a compassionate and caring individual who values connection and relationships above all else. Through the power of community Elizabeth has been able to support local outreach efforts and organizations to improve the welfare of her community. Elizabeth is proud to embody the qualities of a small-town, family-oriented girl who cherishes the love and support of those closest to her.
